Executive Coaches are enablers for senior leaders and their organizations. Through the discovery process, I, as an executive coach, will help uncover the pain points that an organization is looking to eliminate or improve upon.
Once these pain points become more clear through an organizational assessment, we can go to work to address and improve the organizations’ performance, as well as help the individuals in the organization to progress and contribute more effectively.
An executive coach is not brought in because the leader has a “problem”. Too many times I hear executives have a perception that having an executive coach means they have an issue as a leader. The fact is that we ALL have opportunities to continuously improve, whether it’s working specifically on leadership skills or more broadly across the organization.
I’ve identified through survey feedback some very common pain points, including: Hiring and staffing, organizational culture, leadership challenges (like delegation, prioritization, goal setting, and overall time management), Talent management and development, a lack of focus on strategic planning, to name a few.
A significant issue that frequently needs to be addressed is an imbalance in an executive’s overall life, driven by the significant commitments he / she has to the company, it’s employees, and it’s shareholders. See my “Well Balanced Leader” tab under executive coaching on my website for more on a model I’ve developed to address this topic…
