My eight steps to achieving a daunting goal

The EIGHT things I learned / reinforced from my recent Peleton challenge of completing 20 rides in 20 consecutive days…

👍 My BELIEF SYSTEM was so solid that this served as a catalyst for me to be successful.

👍 SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS: I shard this goal publicly to put pressure on myself to deliver the result. A great accountability tactic.

👍 BREAK THE GOAL DOWN INTO SMALL STEPS: I didn’t look at the goal as 20 consecutive days; instead, I was looking to achieve little wins, one day at a time.

👍 PLAN YOUR TIME to enable your success: pick the times of the day that you are most likely to accomplish the task at hand. If the optimal time does not work out, have a backup plan.

👍 VISUALIZE THE OUTCOME: I imagined what success would look like, one day at a time.

👍 TRACK YOUR PROGRESS: I work best with visuals, so keeping a log of my daily progress was motivating.

👍 I had a BURNING DESIRE TO SUCCEED: achieving success was more important than any obstacle that came my way.

👍 SET A STRETCH GOAL: once I achieved the halfway mark, I set a new stretch goal to beat my Personal Best record. This kept me motivated to keep doing better day after day.
